Provenance brand TMB Art Metal’s beautifully finished F-35 Lightning II cufflinks are crafted using metal removed from "BK3", aircraft serial number “ZM 137”.
BK3, alias ZM 137, was the Royal Air Force / Royal Navy's joint initial F-35B type conversion and training jet, based with VMFAT-501 at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina in the USA.
On 29th June 2016 ZM 137, piloted by Squadron Leader Hugh Nichols, made a transatlantic flight landing at RAF Fairford, the first UK owned F-35 to enter UK airspace. During the historic flight, which lasted 9 hours 21 minutes and required twelve in-flight refuels, ZM 137 was accompanied by two US Marine Corps F-35s, attaining a maximum altitude of 28,000 feet and Mach 0.9.
The cufflinks, which are in TMB Art Metal’s renowned house ‘essence of form’ style representing just the very basic form of the F-35, are crafted from a piece of wing spare removed from BK3. These links feature TMB’s easy to employ rigid elliptical design of cufflink arms and, being of the highest grade of modern aircraft aluminium, are extremely light in weight.
These cufflinks are meticulously cast and hand finished in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and presented in very high quality wooden case with Certificate of Provenance.
